Another fine offering from the Willis and Ross team!

Poor young Slug is desperately sad as his mummy never hugs him. So he asks the other animals for advice. And they come with plenty. Get a beak, wings and so on. He fashions his own version of these things and looks like a sort of homemade art and craft crayfish!!

But still his mum won’t hug him. And that, of course, is because she doesn’t have arms. Which is entirely obvious once pointed out but served as a big reveal for all of us. The children both let out long sighs of relief as they had been a bit worried as to why the mum wasn’t doing so.

Wonderful illustrations as always, a crazy story as only Jeanne Willis can provide, moments of humour and a lovely ending. We all really enjoyed this.
