Not really a book but a Christmas ornament itself. The contrast of the red and white (edged in forest green) and the cutouts in Pienkowski’s distinct folktale style make it visually striking anyway, but being able to create a three dimensional star (with ribbons!) out of it too makes this rather special.

Five scenes describe the Christmas story, with Biblical texts accompanying them. If I could I would have hundreds of them hung across the ceiling instead of paper chains. But that wouldn’t be fair – little hands need to be able to hold this. On a coffee table or next to the Christmas tree – anywhere it can be seen and moved around and gazed at. That is where it belongs.

One to get, to hold and explore, and to keep for many Christmases to come.
